I'm off to South America for a few months. Starting with a little house building in Chile, then a little touring around. Hopefully get time for a few posts here...

A late blog entry...

Someone left a comment on the blog the other day asking whether I'd dropped off the end of the earth!

Well, no I haven't. I got home, and forgot to leave a closing post. So here it is, eventually.

My trip actually finished with a sneaky early return. I cut short the last few weeks, so I could get home for my little sister's 18th birthday. It was quite a laugh, no-one knew I was coming home!

I turned up on my doorstep, rang the doorbell and my mum opened the door. The look on her face was priceless!

She dropped me into my sister in school, just as the day was finishing up. I wandered into the school and found her. I walked up and tipped her on the shoulder. Her scream nearly shook the place! It was a moment definitely worth 26 hours travel home for!

So here I am, settling back into life in Dublin, getting things going with the business, catching up with everyone back here, and constantly trying to remind myself that this amazing trip through South America wasn't all just a dream.

Isla De La Plata

Surf's up in Ecuador

It's amazing what you learn about yourself when you head off travelling for a few months. You see these strange patterns emerging. For instance, I've found that I seem to have a strange gravitation towards adventure sports which involve wearing tight-fitting clothing! First white-water rafting, then mountain biking... and now surfing!

Other than that, just spent most of my time here in Montanita chilling; reading, writing...

... and snoozing in the hammock at my little hostel on the beach. This is the life!

John arrives in Santiago sick. Sympathetic friend brings to hospital and entertains during recovery.

I owe you one, Fanny, thanks.

Now I'm better and off to continue adventures...
